If you haven’t yet heard…. I am a couple of weeks into co-hosting a podcast with Dan Hodgins! I am super excited about this new adventure! If you are not familiar with Dan, he is a former child, author, consultant, international speaker,…. You can find his website here, and his Facebook page here. (click on the word here).
Our podcast is called “Shakin’ Bones” which is a catch phrase that Dan has been using for years to call out some of the things he sees in every day life and/or in the classroom. It is a method to ask “What the ???” and to bring to light some of the practices we question when dealing with young children. The podcast is a way for us to have a candid discussion about various topics, some of which may be deemed “untouchable” or uncomfortable for some folks to discuss. It is a way for us to reflect on practices and share our journeys and point of view. We don’t always agree, nor do we expect you to always agree, but we do want to make you think…. and reflect.
Those of you who know me well, know that I generally like to take a lot of time to think about and reflect upon what I see and hear. So, this podcast is a little bit outside of my comfort zone, but I am loving it so far! The pods are not live, but are not also not scripted, or severely edited. (I think the only editing Jeff has done has been to try to improve sound quality in early episodes….)
The podcast is a work in progress. It is being produced by Jeff A Johnson from the Upstairs Studio at Explorations Early Learning. (The first few episodes have mediocre sound quality…. but I promise that gets better as we have worked out some of the technological glitches to provide a better program for you as time goes on).
I hope you will join us by listening each Thursday! You can download an app from Explorations Early learning that will put our podcast along with a number of other early childhood podcasts at your fingertips….
We would also love to continue the discussion and would be happy to hear your thoughts, gain feedback, and answer any additional questions you may have!
(Oh, and I wanted to thank all of you who have reached out to tell me that you have been missing the blog! I have been missing it too. I am hopeful that I will be back here more frequently to share more of what is going on in our world here at Child Central Station!)
